Wetland Restoration Nearing Completion at Oakwoods Nature Preserve

Coldwater is working on several restoration projects funded by H2Ohio grants, including wetland restoration at Oakwoods Nature Preserve. Coldwater assisted Hancock Park District in obtaining two H2Ohio grants to restore wetlands on a 125-acre area of retired farmland. The floodplain wetland restoration project is designed to improve water quality within the Maumee River watershed. Construction was completed earlier this year, and fall plantings are currently underway. The project serves as an important model for demonstrating how to more effectively manage agricultural runoff to reduce phosphorus and other nutrients in surface runoff and tile drain water, and was recently featured in The Courier. https://thecourier.com/news/354253/wetlands-project-takes-root-at-oakwoods-nature-preserve/
