Mentoring in Hilliard Ohio

Coldwater recently supported Hilliard Davidson High School seniors as part of their Engineering Design and Development capstone class.  The high school’s multiple-year pre-engineering program requires seniors to participate in a year-long capstone program that includes the development and creation of a new invention.

Students identified an engineering project that involved the development of a concept and prototype for a rain barrel that could generate potable water, through the addition of treatment and filter components.  As part of the program, they solicited input and support from the local engineering community.  Coldwater engineer Eric Onderak served as a mentor during the development process, providing real-world feedback to the students.  The final design and prototype were presented in a poster session at the end of the year with the other capstone projects.  The students are planning to continue their education and will attend college in fall – we wish them all the best!
